If you are a Veteran or your father is a Veteran and you would like to have some of your pictures posted on this site please contact Jim Love Webmaster at (636) 464-2794 for details.
I hope every
one of you will send a card!
WHAT A GREAT
IDEA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Click on the web address and send a
card to one
who who is serving our country for your freedom......
This was just sent to
me. How AMAZING if we could get everyone we know to send
one.
If you go to
the web site at www.letssaythanks.com you can pick out a
thank you
card and it will be sent to a soldier that is currently serving in
Iraq. You
can't pick out who gets it, but it will go to some member of
the armed services.
It only takes a second and wouldn't it be wonderful if
they received a bunch of
these.
You may have to hand
type this address in to make it work. That will only take a second of your
time but it is worth your effort.

---Ray Dawdy owner of the Cottage Cafe in Kimmswick, said he wants to do his part to honor American Veterans especially World War 11 vets.
We're losing WW ll vets by the thousands." he said. So Dawdy decided to organize "Operation: 1st.W.A.V.E (We appreciate Veterans Event)" to be held in Kimmswick from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday July 29. He said and internet search turned up two organizations that were willing to help him with his plan: The 2nd Ranger Infantry Battalion Inc. and MVPA.
The U.S. 2nd Ranger Infantry Battalion Inc. is a group of living history re-enactors based in St. Louis. MVPA (Military Vehicle Preservation Association) is made up of military vehicle enthusiasts. Both groups are dedicated to preserving World War 11 history in the most authentic way possible.
The 2nd Rangers will set up a "base camp" near Kimmswick City Hall and will display memorabilia on July 29. The re-enactors will dress in World War ll uniforms and will stay in character at the event. There will be two weapons demonstration in the afternoon, but no mock battles.
Several members will portray Military police (MPs) and will set up a check point for those entering Kimmswick. Veterans of any age will be given a pin entitling the wearer to discounts at Kimmswick shops.
The MVPA will bring in various World War ll vehicles and park them around town. Dawdy found a sponsor to pay for a Stuart light tank that he wants brought into town. The tank would be parked at the end of Market Street. Both groups are offering their services for free.
Dawdy said the MVPA is excited about the event as well. They had tried to do a demonstration in Arnold, but they said it fell through.
The 2nd Rangers offered to bring in German re-enactors and vehicles as well as American. After consideration, Dawdy requested that they stick to the American side. He is worried that WW ll veterans who come to the event might be insulted or distressed by the German re-enactors. "This is about our guys" he said. "The main thing is educational. It's to teach the kids" Dawdy said. He said he wanted the children to have the opportunity to learn about WW ll and it's impact on America. He believes the vehicle displays will catch their attention and draw them in.
Dawdy would have liked to get a flyby from the Air Force, but found that he didn't have enough time to get the paperwork through to the Pentagon. If this year's event is a success he will get a flyby for next year.
He also said that he is going to look into getting the Vietnam Memorial traveling wall to stop in Kimmswick next year.
Dawdy has arranged for two Air-condition RV.s to be parked on Market Street and one on Front Street as a cooling station for older vets who might visit.
There will be a Canteen Dance featuring 1940's era Music, , from 6-10Pm.
For information about Operation: 1st W.A.V.E. contact Ray Dawdy at 314-600-2130 or the Cottage Thyme Cafe at 464-7772.
All of the Visitor's had a great Time!! See You Next Year!!!
